Another oneshot manga that never came over to the US, 0x0 Memories by Takeuchi Kozue is a shoujo manga about a young girl, Tsuda Rei, who lost her memories from a hit to the head with a soccer ball. This is a really good manga, I enjoyed the story and it was a cute little short that could definitely be published under the Shojo Beat imprint.
(SPOILER WARNING! START)
The story starts off with Rei already having been hit with the ball and she wakes up in the school infirmary without any memories. The ones who greet her upon awakening are her parents, her childhood friend, Ichi, and the boy who kicked the ball in the first place, Kujou-san. Rei is told to take it easy and her memories will eventually come back to her. She goes to school the next day and is bombarded by her best friend, Q-chan, who questions her about Kujou-san since he came up to Rei and apologized again, and who Q-chan thinks is very good looking. Ichi tries to help Rei regain her memories, but looking at pictures and whatnot makes Rei feel even more like a stranger looking at the images. Kujou-san, who is a third year student, tries to monopolize Rei the next day but Ichi gets in the middle, but Rei ends up mad at him for doing so and they end up fighting. Once alone with Kujou-san, behind the school with the cherry blossoms, where the original incident happened, Rei regains her memories because of the petals. She rejects Kujou-san yet again, because he had asked her out prior to the memory loss, and his true colors appear. Kujou-san confesses to kicking the ball at her on purpose because he was furious about her liking someone else that wasn't him, and was also jealous to see her with Ichi. Ichi appears and hits a baseball towards Kujou-san to stop his advancements and he is promptly knocked out. Q-chan, who arrived with Ichi, reveals that the third year boy is just a major womanizer and breaks up with girls when he feels like it, making many cry and be brokenhearted. She proceeds to draw on his face. Rei remembers that Ichi had confessed his feelings for her and her for him as well. They get together and Kujou-san popped up at the end with amnesia himself. What goes around, comes around.
(SPOILER WARNING! END)
I really like this manga, it is very sweet with a satisfying ending. Also the art style looks like Tanemura Arina's, who is a favourite mangaka of mine. Moving on, this was a very good story and I enjoyed it a lot, I know it's old and there's little to no chance of it coming to the US, but I'm hoping anyway. Besides that, it's very cute and I definitely recommend it for those who like short sweet shoujo stories. I hope you guys liked this one! Thank you so much for your continued support, hope you guys will keep supporting me because I'm hoping to keep this blog running for a long time. Comment below what you think! See you all next week!
