$100 is too Cheap by Yamamoto Kazune is a oneshot set in the midwest, following a bounty hunter named Petey, and despite what the name may portray Petey is a girl. She teams up with a boy named Suna who is a mystery solver and bartender. This one is really an interesting story and definitely one worth checking out. Although the mystery aspect of the story was easy to figure out if you were paying attention, it's still a cute mystery to watch unravel.
(SPOILER WARNING! START)
Petey comes to Suna's bar in order to hire him to solve a mystery for her. She quickly runs off on a tangent every so often throughout her conversation with Suna. He prompts her to explain the problem and she starts out with explaining the great influx of bounty hunters, 200 in her town alone. Then she goes off and talks about how her town is in need of a new sheriff and they're only looking to hire one. Petey quickly gets back on topic and explains how there is a bounty on a criminal named "Blue Cheese," whose only offense was stealing from the sheriff's office, and how his bounty is -$100. No that's not a typo, you have to pay to catch this criminal. Petey was simply curious and hired Suna to solve the mystery of why the bounty was what it is. He soon comes to the conclusion of that it's a test to find a bounty hunter with a strong sense of justice. It's to scout out for a new sheriff and the reason they made the bounty -$100, instead of just $0, is the fee for the sheriff's uniform. Petey became sheriff, taking Suna's advice in going after "Blue Cheese" and pays Suna $100 for all of the fees of hiring him and drinking at the bar.

All in all, I really liked this story. I think it would've been a great story to expand to either the adventures Petey had prior to the beginning of the manga or after the ending. I do like the different setting, the midwest feel of things and bounty hunters being the focus. The mystery of the manga was simple enough but it was entertaining to try and solve. This is a manga that young readers can read and challenge themselves a bit to try and solve the mystery before the end comes to a close. If this sounds up your alley, I do think checking it out is worth it, also it's short so you can read through it quickly. Thank you for reading! Comment below and tell me what you think. Have you read other manga set in the midwest? If so, I would love to know about it and read it for myself! I can't wait to see your comments on what I have planned for next week! Bye!
